THIRD GENERATION

 

15. Martha Anna CARTER was born on 26 Nov 1848 in Lauderdale Co, MS. She died on 26 Feb 1877. She was buried in Bluff City, Ouachita Co (now Nevada Co), AR, Bluff City Cem. Martha was accepted into the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ Baptist Church by baptism in 1861. Today, it is the Bluff City Baptist Church.

She was married to Monroe Edward HARVEY on 23 Dec 1869. Monroe Edward HARVEY was born in 1841 in MS. He died in 1902. He was buried in Bluff City, Ouachita Co (now Nevada Co), AR, Bluff City Cem. According to Harvey descendants, Monroe was a peg-legged schoolteacher who came into Ark riding a horse. He stopped at Center Point to spend the night, where he was hired to teach school. Center Point School was north of Chidester on the public road, now State Hwy 24, and south of the Reeder road intersection. He and Martha raised their family in Ouachita Co. in a house located between White Oak Creek and the Nevada Co. line, a short distance off the public road and just before the Walthall house. After the death of Monroe and Mary Frances (his last wife) Dick and Paralee (Starnes) Crowell moved in with the children and took care of them. Martha Anna CARTER and Monroe Edward HARVEY had the following children:

child 66 i. Edward Monroe HARVEY was born on 9 Dec 1870. He died on 2 May 1936.
child 67 ii. HARVEY was born in 1874. He died in 1874. He was buried in Bluff City, Ouachita Co (now Nevada Co), AR, Bluff City Cem.
